Mount Cinnamon

Helping you find the best value lodging experiences around the world, from budget to luxury and everything in between.

Last summer, Mount Cinnamon Resort Grenada debuted eight new suites overlooking Grand Anse Beach. Despite the new construction, the rooms blend seamlessly with the rest of this eco-friendly property. Here's our review.

The Basics

Budget Level: Luxe ($311+/night)

Lodging Type: Boutique hotel with 21 suites and villas.

What You Need to Know

The Look: All eight new Cinnamon Suites take inspiration from the beach, predominantly decorated with white and light wood tones and pops of blue. This simple design scheme allows the panoramic views of Grand Anse Beach to shine. Furnishings include a king bed, a living area with a smart TV, bathrooms with rain head showers and separate water closets, and a private furnished balcony.

The Vibe: Grand Anse Beach is the antithesis of Cancun and Punta Cana’s strips of mega resorts, and Mount Cinnamon Resort fits perfectly in this setting. With less than two dozen accommodations (including the eight new Cinnamon Suites), even at full capacity the resort never feels too busy and the atmosphere is always carefree. Up on a hill, the suite and villas are perched above an open-air common building, which houses a pool, restaurant, bar, and the lobby. Couples and families stroll in throughout the morning for breakfast, unless they’ve opted for room service.

Down a tiki-torch-lit path lies the beach club, equipped with an outdoor restaurant and bar, a lounge area with plenty of chairs and daybeds, private massage cabanas, and water sports equipment. Expect a laid-back, uncrowded beach scene during the day. On some nights, the beach club hosts dinner with live music, attracting tourists and locals alike. Dessert gives way to dancing on the beach. Those looking to truly unwind and recharge on vacation will be happy to know that's about as rowdy as it gets at Mount Cinnamon Resort.

Who Will Love It: Anyone seeking a quintessential beach vacation away from the masses.

Who Might Not: Anyone with vertigo or an aversion to stairs and steep inclines. Those looking for a beach vacation at a larger, more commercialized resort.

Best Amenity: The beach club. What more could you ask for than a comfortable lounge chair shaded by a palm tree, just a few steps away from the ocean and a cocktail bar?

Money Matters

What’s included: Accommodation and breakfast.

Fees and Extra Costs You Should Know About: Lunch, dinner, and beverages cost extra. It’s easy to rack up a pricey food and drinks tab.

How to Get a Deal: At the time of publication, Mount Cinnamon is offering a nightly rate of $311 for most dates (including weekends and holidays) June through October. Normally, shoulder season costs $104 more per night.

Getting There

JetBlue offers direct, round-trip flights from JFK from $350. Mount Cinnamon is a 10-minute drive from Maurice Bishop International Airport.

The Bottom Line

For an incredibly relaxing, upscale beach vacation on one of the Caribbean’s best-kept-secret islands, look no further than Mount Cinnamon.
